Your Feedback, Our Progress: Shaping the Future of Sustainable Chemistry Together

In the News,

Dear members of our community,

At Change Chemistry, we truly believe that feedback is a gift. We want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who took the time to share insights through our Programs Survey and during our July Retail Leadership Council (RLC) and Supply Chain Working Group (SCWG) meetings. Your input drives our work forward, helping us continuously improve and better support your green and sustainable chemistry journey. If you haven’t yet completed the Programs Survey, there’s still time, and our door is always open for any additional comments, questions, or input.

Innovators Roundtable Agenda Planning

During our July RLC and SCWG meetings, we sought your ideas for the 2024 Innovators Roundtable, taking place October 28-30 at Nike’s headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. We heard that there’s significant interest in addressing barriers and opportunities across the supply chain, especially around scaling the adoption of green and sustainable chemistry. Topics like advanced recycling, sustainable plastics, and the scaling of sustainable solvents were key areas of focus.

Based on your feedback, we aim to uncover and discuss the key drivers and challenges within the supply chain, helping to foster a deeper understanding of strategies for sustainable chemistry implementation. Sessions will cover critical issues like the cost of sustainable products, development timelines, and the collaborations necessary to drive new technologies. We’ll take a life-cycle approach to explore sustainable plastics and delve into transitioning the chemical supply chain to safer, more sustainable solvents.

Our in-person events, like the Innovators Roundtable, offer a unique opportunity for multi-industry stakeholders to come together, exchange ideas, and explore important topics like these. We hope you’ll join us in October—registration is now open!

Programs Survey – Initial Results

Our Programs Survey revealed that both you and we favor in-person events. With that in mind, we plan to host them more frequently, followed by systematic action to drive change and collaborate toward meaningful impact. We’re also revamping the RLC and SCWG meetings to make our virtual gatherings more effective.

Over 85% of you expressed interest in safer, more sustainable plastics. To reflect this, the Innovators Roundtable will feature a dedicated session on the drivers and challenges of sustainable plastics. Additionally, we’re organizing a webinar series on microplastics and the role of collaboration in addressing today’s most urgent sustainability challenges.

The survey results also showed that 80% of our members are interested in policy and advocacy. In response, we’ll continue working with agencies and policymakers in the US and EU to support the innovation, scaling, and adoption of sustainable chemistry.

Get Involved!

Once again, thank you for your time, thoughtful feedback, and for giving us the opportunity to grow. We’re listening and always eager to hear from you. If you’d like to join the SCWG, please reach out to Jenny at jenny@changechemistry.org.
