Accelerating the Scale and Adoption of Sustainable Chemistry Solutions: Collaborating for Success
There is evidence that the green and sustainable chemistry sector is growing, but the adoption of these chemistries remains a challenge. Even after a sustainable chemistry solution is developed and identified, the scale and commercialization process can be resource intensive and slow. Incumbent chemistries have been optimized, capitalized, and integrated into complex supply chains, and earlier stage companies that drive innovation may lack the connection to strategic partners that can help bring solutions to market. To accelerate the scale and adoption of sustainable chemistry, collaboration across the value chain is key.
During this webinar, we are excited to be joined by GFBiochemicals and Brenntag as we dive into this topic. GFBiochemicals will discuss their innovative levulinic acid technology as well as their scale up journey and needs. Brenntag will discuss how their position as a chemical distributor can help bring sustainable chemistry solutions to market and accelerate their adoption. Brenntag and GFBiochemicals will also share how they are collaborating to bring a safer, more sustainable product to the European CASE sector.

Speakers
Jan Weernink
Chief Commercial Officer at GFBiochemicals
Being attracted to chemistry early in his life, Jan Weernink pursued a degree in Chemical Engineer in the Netherlands. As a dual national (US and Dutch citizen) Jan began his US career with Benjamin Moore as a product development chemist in the paint & coating industry. He quickly realized that being technical was only part of the chemical industry, he obtained an MBA and he gradually moved into broader and more senior commercial roles at companies like Zeneca, Elementis, Dow Chemical and ADM and finally he transitioned into taking on the CCO role at GFBiochemicals located in Marseille, France.
Trained as a chemical engineer and being embedded in the petrochemical sector he realized that creating sustainable solutions where no longer just an option but a requirement if we are to address the existential challenges humanity and the planet face today. At GFBiochemicals, Jan is leading the commercialization of it’s levulinic acid platform which has been identified by the US DoE as a platform chemical of the future
