Salary Range: $70,000-$90,000 , depending on experience

Position Overview: We are searching for an enthusiastic and skilled Communications Manager to produce high-quality science and science policy communications, engage members, and influence stakeholders to create greater impact. The ideal candidate will have a passion for environmental and sustainability issues, and experience in science communication, public policy, marketing, and influencing. This role will work closely with the Directors of Programs, Business Development & Partnerships, and Operations to implement a comprehensive communications plan and content strategy. The position reports to the Director of Business Development & Partnerships to elevate brand and mission recognition amongst chemical, brand-owner and retail corporate executives to attract new members, increase engagement, and drive thought leadership.
Key Responsibilities

Write, review, edit, and update science, policy, and marketing content for the organization’s websites, newsletters, inbound marketing materials, and media.

Conduct surveys and interviews to understand member needs, innovative developments, and perceptions about barriers and opportunities in sustainable chemistry. Contextualize findings for leaders and members.

Identify member personas and develop communication channels, campaigns, and workflows to serve their needs.

Lead staff in developing a communications and marketing plan that includes sharing information through the learning management system and website.

Manage the relationship and work products of outsourced marketing partners.

Utilize social media, press, and other media (blogs, podcasts) to position the organization as a thought leader, engage members, and promote organizational initiatives.

Collaborate with internal departments to establish campaign objectives, complete tasks, and identify and solve problems.

Monitor social media and company website metrics.

Utilize SEO methods to increase site traffic.

Record and edit videos for sharing on the website, LMS, and social media by interviewing at events and webinars

Suggest new ways to promote organizational offerings and increase impact.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, nonprofit administration, science communications, or a related field.

5+ years of experience as a content creator, communications lead, marketing specialist, membership coordinator, fundraiser, or in a similar role.

Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, generative AI, Association Management Software (AMS), social media campaigns, and website marketing.

Experience creating strong, engaging content, involving members/clients/stakeholders through communications, and increasing influence.

Extensive knowledge of public relations and fundraising best practices.

Understanding of SEO best practices.

Demonstrated excellence in writing, proofreading, and editing.

Excellent interviewing, organizational, and time management skills.

Comfort with recording, video editing and developed technical skills are a plus.

Strong listening, analysis, and synthesis skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Capacity to work efficiently without compromising quality or accuracy.

(Optional) Master’s degree in science communication, public administration, nonprofit leadership, or a related field.
